The United States advises Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "press the brakes" when it comes to advancing his legal plan - this is what the United States Ambassador to Israel, Tom Neides, said today (Saturday) in an interview for the podcast of the former adviser to the President of the United States David Axelrod.

Naides added, "We are telling the prime minister, as I tell my children - put on the brakes. Slow down. Try to reach a consensus. This is a very complex issue and they are trying to advance it too quickly."

The ambassador said that the United States will not dictate to Israel how to choose judges for the Supreme Court, but emphasized that the democratic institutions are what connects the two countries.

"This is how we defend Israel at the UN and this is how we stand by our shared values," he added.
