Pulheim – In the almost ten years that have passed since the first "Bares for Rares" episode on August 3, 2013, the dealers of the ZDF junk show have made a number of finds that have turned into big money.

Whether it's old pieces of jewelry or dusty paintings - what may look like a worthless relic to some has already conjured up dollar bills in the eyes of many an antiques professional and made his customers a lot richer.

But even after more than 1,000 episodes, there are still a few objects that even the experts can only dream of.

"Seen in museums": "Bares for Rares" star Wolfgang Pauritsch has an expensive dream object

If you come across a rare object in the attic or in a forgotten basement compartment and want to sell it on the popular ZDF show, first let the experts around Dr.

It is true that in the course of his career he has come across a number of top-class paintings by the great painters, but Wolfgang Pauritsch still dreams of an object today.

"I would like to have an original painting by Kandinsky on offer," reveals the native Austrian in a "Bares for Rares" Instagram video, "I've seen it in museums, something like that is almost priceless today."

The biggest "Bares for Rares" treasures

Ever since the very first episode of “Bares für Rares” premiered on ZDF on August 3, 2013, the bargain-loving dealers have acquired a few real treasures – at breathtaking prices.

In 2019, Cosima Birk and her daughter Stephanie Huber received 42,000 euros for a piece of jewelery containing splinters of wood from the cross of Jesus Christ.

In 2021, Marlies Fischer received 30,500 euros for a lithograph by the expressionist painter Otto Mueller, of which only 20 exist worldwide.

In the same year, Sabine Riemer was delighted to receive 29,000 euros for a gold-plated drinking vessel from the court of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great.

So you notice: visits to the flea market and rummaging around in the attic pay off.

"I'll bring it over": "Bares for Rares" fans react to Wolfgang Pauritsch's request for a painting

Should a work by Wassily Kandinsky ever appear in the awe-inspiring halls of "Bares für Rares", Wolfgang Pauritsch and his fellow dealers will have to dig deep into their pockets.

Because the works of the Russian artist are always auctioned for astronomical sums of money - such as his "Sketch for 'Improvisation 8'", for which 2012 the New York auction house Christie's offered 23 million dollars.

But who knows, maybe one day a "Bares for Rares" guest will be able to grant his wish.

At "Sure, I'll bring it over.

It's just in the way here anyway," an Instagram user commented jokingly on the video, "I'll go down to the basement and have a look," laughs another.

Of course, not every yellowed canvas or rusty pearl necklace is a find for eternity, but riches regularly wander over the dealer counter at "Bares for Rares".

Most recently, a "Bares for Rares" flop turned out to be a real treasure - and gave its seller a whopping 43,520 euros.
