The battle for the legal revolution planned by the government will continue with all its might this week as well.

On the one hand, the coalition is expected to continue promoting the reform laws in the Knesset, and on the other hand, the organizers of the revolution against the changes have announced another week of protests, which will include a "national struggle day" on Monday.

All this, in the background of President Yitzhak Herzog's call for talks between the coalition and the opposition.

Among other things, the Constitution Committee is expected to discuss one of the reform laws this week, according to which the High Court can invalidate laws only with an absolute majority of the Supreme Court judges. It is not yet clear whether and to what extent the government will try to promote the "Deri Law 2", since, as published in Vala, Rabbi Shas Aryeh Deri is considering withdrawing from his promotion.

At the same time, protests against the revolution are expected to continue this week throughout the country.

The main protest will take place on Monday, which the organizers of the demonstrations defined as "a day of national struggle. In the morning, demonstrations by parents and children are expected to take place outside schools in dozens of locations throughout Israel. At 10:00 a.m. organizers protest a huge one-hour strike, which will include many companies and businesses, as well as a

strike At 2:00 p.m. a large demonstration is expected to take place in front of the Knesset in Jerusalem, and a few hours later the protesters intend to march through the streets of the capital.

Last night, as every Saturday in recent weeks, thousands demonstrated against the legal revolution in Tel Aviv.

At the same time, tens of thousands demonstrated in a series of centers across the country: tens of thousands in Haifa, where Tzipi Livni spoke, about a thousand in front of the President's House in Jerusalem, and also in Beer Sheva, Ramat Hasharon, Nes Ziona, Zichron Yaakov, Kiryat Ono, Herzliya and other places.

At the end of the demonstration in Tel Aviv, demonstrators blocked the Ayalon lanes in Tel Aviv for about an hour and a half.

The United States Ambassador to Israel, Tom Neides, said last night that his country advises Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "press the brakes" when it comes to promoting his legal plan.

He said these things in an interview to the podcast of the former advisor to the President of the United States David Axelrod.

Naides added that "we are telling the prime minister, as I tell my children - put on the brakes. Slow down. Try to reach a consensus. This is a very complex issue and they are trying to advance it too quickly."

The ambassador said that the United States will not dictate to Israel how to choose judges for the Supreme Court, but emphasized that the democratic institutions are what connects the two countries.

"This is how we defend Israel at the UN and this is how we stand by our shared values," he added.

    The truth is revealed

The revolution planned by the government includes a series of significant changes in the legal system, such as a determination that only an expanded composition of the High Court of Justice can invalidate legislation passed by the Knesset. Another step of the revolution, designed to strengthen the government's hand vis-à-vis the court, is the establishment of a superseding clause that will nullify decisions of the High Court by a majority of only 61 members of the Knesset, as well as changing the composition of the committee for the selection of judges so that it is fully controlled by the coalition.

The reform also deals with weakening the power of the legal advisors to the government, so that their position will not bind the government, and with eliminating the reason for reasonableness, which, among other things, significantly limits the court's ability to intervene in the appointment of senior officials.
