Richard Gere has been hospitalized in recent weeks in a hospital in Mexico, after contracting pneumonia.
The 73-year-old actor spent time in Nuevo Viarte, when he had to be admitted to a local hospital due to the illness, which also affected the rest of his family, who were there to celebrate the 40th birthday of his wife, Alejandra Silvia.
She confirmed on Instagram the reports that appeared tonight (Sunday) on American entertainment websites, about her husband's illness.

According to TMZ, Geer developed a bad cough that lasted throughout the family trip, forcing him to be hospitalized overnight, during which he received medical treatment and was released the next morning, having been prescribed antibiotics.

Last Thursday, Silvia posted on her Instagram account a picture of herself and her two children with chalk (the actor has another child from a previous marriage, by the way), in which she wrote: "Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes.
After almost three weeks when the whole family was sick, I'm finally feeling better!
Thank you for your love!
I pass it on to you."
Silvia even posted a photo tonight (Sunday) in her story with her husband and one of their sons, to which she added the caption "A day at the beach".
It is worth noting that last Friday, Gere attended the premiere of the romantic comedy "Maybe a Wedding", in which he stars alongside Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton and Emma Roberts.
