The same-sex wedding couple was just one foolish detail among many.

Deining – Maria Schwarz and Sophie Fuchs were roused from their sleep by Deininger boys at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The two friends played the homosexual couple Sepperl and Schorschi, who said yes to each other almost eight hours later on a dunghill to the applause of more than 1000 mostly costumed onlookers.

The wedding ceremony at the Feichtmoar estate was the highlight of the beggar wedding, which only takes place every ten years in Deining (we reported).

For the first time, a same-sex couple stood in front of the altar.

Accompanied by loud party music, the church procession with tractors and the fully occupied floats of the "Luaderlichen" and the "hunchbacked relatives" started moving in the late morning.

An expectant crowd followed them along the route to the Feichtmoar estate behind the church.

There the pastor (Andreas Kießling) first opened the ceremony with unctuous words, but then quickly realized that he was dealing with a same-sex couple and fled angrily.

Now it was the hour of an angel (Christian Hörmann): Carried by a block and tackle attached to the upper floor of the stable, he floated in and took over the management of the wedding ceremony.

"Enjoy the sacrament, after that there is only the anointing of the dead," he recommended to the two bridegrooms.

Meanwhile, the wedding choir of the "Luaderlichen" called for rampant alcohol consumption and sang slippery lyrics like "Gay club, come dance with me".

Deininger beggar wedding: semi-serious tones and taunts from lay deacons

The deacon (Benedikt Spindler) then struck a somewhat more serious note.

"Now more people are leaving the Church than sins are being committed," he lamented.

In addition, the priest barked at the mayor of Egling, Hubert Oberhauser, who was present as a "sun god" because he wants to set up a huge photovoltaic system in the municipal area.

The political all-round blow continued in the intercessions of the boys.

"Let our local councils be only half as corrupt as the European Parliament: we beg you, spank us," it said.

Bridegroom Schorschi, on the other hand, didn't want to read anything and came out as "ANALphabeth".

Before handing over the rings, he vowed to love his partner until Ash Wednesday do them part.

After the ceremony, the wedding guests celebrated in almost spring-like temperatures at the boys' club's carnival booths or went straight on to the Schützenheim.

Accompanied by the Deininger brass band, the party enjoyed roast pork, dumplings and coleslaw until late in the evening.

Mayor Oberhauser, who was appointed sun god, was impressed by the spectacle.

"It was very harmonious and funny," he praised the amateur actors.
