Homs, SANA - A campaign to respond to the earthquake's repercussions was launched today in the schools of Homs governorate, as part of the plan of the Ministry of Education

Today, a campaign to respond to the repercussions of the earthquake was launched in the schools of Homs Governorate, as part of the plan of the Ministry of Education and the School Health Directorate, in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

Dr. Ghiath Abbas, head of the school health department in Homs, confirmed to SANA reporter that since the earthquake occurred, school health has taken several measures, starting with the emergency, rapid and continuous response phase, by forming 11 teams at the governorate level that include doctors and health, psychological and social assistants, indicating that the campaign lasts for a month, and aims to Providing psychological and social support to students who are the most affected by disasters.

Abbas referred to the role of the family with the school by listening to their children, calming them down, caring for their feelings, and pushing them to participate in various types of activities such as theater, singing and drawing to relieve their tension, indicating that 11 schools are targeted daily through tasks distributed to teams and counselors.

In turn, Dr. Azza Haidar, head of the Muhammad Jihad Ramadan School Health Clinic, stated that the campaign has a great goal in protecting our children and educating them during the occurrence of natural disasters, spreading reassurance in them, guiding them on how to act in the event of any emergency, and emphasizing our health cadres for immediate response.

The psychological counselor, Basma Shaddoud, from Abdul Karim Ammar School, noted the importance of the role of psychological counselors in the response campaign, in addition to their work in schools to counter the effects of the earthquake disaster, by providing various activities that get students out of fear and anxiety, while listening to their ideas and allowing them to express themselves, noting the provision of activities Variety for children to express what is inside them.

The principal of Abdel-Fattah Nshiwati School, Zina Jarad, explained that, since the earthquake, lessons have been allocated to provide psychological support to students through social counselors and psychologists, and to teach them, with practical application, how to behave inside the school in the event of an earthquake and to behave calmly.

Hayam Al-Zaouri, readiness supervisor at Abdel-Fattah Nshiwati School, pointed out that the readiness teams in schools are responsible for training students on the evacuation process through the instructions that are provided to them, by placing hands above the head or going down under the seat quietly to protect the head, move away from the walls, and reduce their state of fear.

Abdel Karim Ammar School witnessed practical training for students in the event of an earthquake, an evacuation process for students at Abdel Fattah Nshiwati School, and a play and song about the earthquake.
