The President of the Republic has chosen Iraq as France's repositioning ground in the Middle East.
He achieved this in 2021 and 2022 by co-chairing with the Iraqi Prime Minister the Baghdad conference, which brings together the neighboring Arab countries, Turkey and Iran, and whose aim is to increase the economic partnership between Iraq and its environment.
If the results are slow to be felt - in terms of concrete development projects - this is an undeniable sign of success.
It was reinforced during Prime Minister Mohammed Chia al-Soudani's recent visit to Paris by the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between France and Iraq.
