2023-02-19T18:25:03.794Z

GREAT DECRYPTION - The Head of State has been rather successful in Iraq. But, in Lebanon and Iran, obstacles persist in strengthening France's influence.

In six years in power, Emmanuel Macron has visited the Middle East ten times.

His pragmatism in the face of hot issues in the region has not always allowed him to play the role of crisis mediator to which he aspires.

• How was cooperation with Iraq relaunched?

The President of the Republic has chosen Iraq as France's repositioning ground in the Middle East.

If the results are slow to be felt - in terms of concrete development projects - this is an undeniable sign of success.

It was reinforced during Prime Minister Mohammed Chia al-Soudani's recent visit to Paris by the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between France and Iraq.
