Opinion This is not reform - it is simply destruction Israel today

The politicians set out to sympathize with the residents of Lod for their hardships instead of solving them.

Many residents of Lod came yesterday to the government meeting in Jerusalem to protest the harsh criminal reality in their city.

They are right, of course, but that is not the story.

The story is that some of the government ministers left the weekly government meeting and came down to sympathize with them.

Yes, I know, it sounds like a joke: government ministers, who are supposed to solve the problems for the residents of Lod, went out to demonstrate alongside them against themselves.

Among them is the Minister of National Security, who was elected precisely on this ticket - to restore personal security - and since entering the office makes sure to quarrel with everyone possible.

I wouldn't have mentioned him if it weren't for the fact that several members of his party threatened yesterday, and not even implicitly, to depose the commissioner if he doesn't align with the minister's position. On the agenda: limiting demonstrations and demonstrators against the government.

This sequence, more than anything, shows a basic lack of understanding of democracy, the rules of government and the responsibilities of politicians, raises more than a hint of wondering who will protect democracy, the individual and the general, if the legal revolution goes as planned.

After all, the government ministers are busy with a daily effort to prove that their intentions are suspicious: they demand to investigate and ban opponents, limit demonstrations and publications, ban recordings - and other actions that can be summed up under one title: anti-democracy.

In the 1970s Israel was ruled by the formation.

A reincarnation of the party that founded the country, which became stagnant and fell into vertigo until it lost the trust of the people and the government.

In those days people had shame: whoever was caught resigned or was fired (or committed suicide).

Later, elected officials lost their shame.

The one who had to keep our shame in place, the citizens, is the judicial system, which time and time again intervened to stop people and inappropriate actions.

We received such a small example only in the last few weeks, after Aryeh Deri was stopped when he tried to return to the government, contrary to an explicit summary and after he was convicted (again) of crimes according to his confession.

If the legal revolution goes as planned, there will be no more High Court and there will be no reformed judicial system that will protect our fatness from the cats. Who will prevent political appointments? She is not the cousin of the member of the Center, and that the next IDF fighter jet was not purchased because someone close to him cut a coupon, and that there should be equality for women?

They tell us about the system in Canada and other countries - bullshit.

Senior officials of the judicial system in Canada came forward to say that they are working on us.

And not only them: all over the world and in Israel they clarify, shout, beg not to cook half a meal, that the Israeli system is fragile and lacking balance in the form of a constitution, and above all - that they do not destroy everything in one fell swoop.

That mend themselves slowly, in moderation, with thought and discourse, and not in an anxiety-inducing binge from the hurricane that is about to pass over Israel in every field: political, security, economic and social.

It was possible, in a pinch, to believe the government's words that it came to fix and not to break, if its members were not busy with collective and incessant blaming of the other side.

This search for scapegoats, the denouncing and vomiting of the good sons of this country, shows that they are not looking for reform - but destruction.

If they had wanted otherwise, they would have hugged, talked, listened, looked for a compromise.

By avoiding this, they send half the people to the streets and create a rift that will be difficult for his sister.

The responsibility for this, just like for the problems of the residents of Lod, lies in one place only: in the government.

were we wrong

We will fix it!
