Munich – If you want to be out and about in downtown Munich this weekend, you will inevitably get to know new ways.

Because of the security conference in the Bayerischer Hof, many streets around the conference hotel are blocked off.

In addition, a lot of demonstrations, streets and squares will be blocked.

A large demo by Iranians took place on Friday afternoon at Odeonsplatz, "for a democratic and secular Iran" - 1,000 people alone were registered for this.

Siko Munich: Demonstrations in the city center announced

The security area around the Bayerischer Hof is valid until Sunday, 3 p.m. – around Promenadeplatz, on Kardinal-Faulhaberstrasse and Prannerstrasse.

Only specially accredited persons and those with a legitimate interest are allowed in there.

There are corridors for residents and customers of the shops, which can be entered without special permission.

On Saturday, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the “action alliance against the NATO security conference” demonstrated against “the NATO war conference, militarism, nationalism, anti-Semitism and racism”.

Motto: "Negotiate instead of shooting", "Disarmament instead of rearmament".

The way: Karlsplatz - Lenbachplatz - Place of Victims of National Socialism - Brienner Str. - Odeonsplatz - Residenzstr.

All afternoon: Several demos in downtown Munich

On Saturday from 12 noon to 6.30 p.m. the organization "women.life.freedom.munich" is demonstrating at Max-Joseph Platz.

It is about the "importance of the democratic processes in Iran for security in the Middle East and the world".

3000 to 3500 people are announced for this.

On Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., a demo train with 4,000 announced participants of the organization "Munich Stands Up" is planned under the motto "We want peace".

The route: Königsplatz – Brienner Str. – Augustenstr.

Large-scale police operation

Security at Siko: 4,500 police officers from Bavaria and other federal states as well as 300 federal police officers are on duty at the weekend.

Much more than in the previous year: in 2022 there were still 3,500 officials.

The Munich police reported on Friday that the previous Siko actions had run smoothly.

A total of around 1,000 no-parking signs had been set up in the city, but by Friday morning around 100 cars had had to be towed away.

A total of 700 barriers are ready, around 1200 manhole covers have been sealed.

Helicopters circled the city, explosives detection dogs were in action and cars were also examined.

At Odeonsplatz: Biggest demo on Sunday afternoon

Other smaller demos on Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Karl-Stützel-Patz, the AfD district association Munich East demonstrated "against arms deliveries" (300 people), 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rindermarkt it was "against the presence of the Foreign Minister of the Mullahs Regime” at the Siko (100 people) and from 2 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. there is a protest for human rights in Iran (100 people) at Gärtnerplatz.


The biggest demonstration on Sunday takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Odeonsplatz: the "Iran Demonstration against the Iranian government".

3000 people are expected here, a delegation of 20 people also at Lenbachplatz.


On Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. a demo of "Pulse of Europe" for "a sovereign and resilient Europe" is planned at Max-Joseph-Platz, with 500 participants.

On Karl-Stützel-Platz, 100 people want to demonstrate from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. against the presence of the foreign minister of the mullah regime at Siko.
