Damascus-SANA
The Arab Writers Union condemned the Israeli aggression that targeted civilian areas in and around Damascus at dawn today, killing five people and wounding 15 others.
And the statement, which SANA received a copy of today, said: “Despite the suffering and pain that gripped the hearts of the Syrians as a result of the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria, demolishing many of its buildings, and displacing a large part of our people in Idlib, Lattakia, Aleppo, Hama, and others, the Zionist entity carried out a brutal attack on Damascus city and its environs, targeting residential buildings and places crowded with civilians.
The statement added: “If terrorism and the earthquake have afflicted many victims, then the Zionist aggression, which carried out a brutal attack on Damascus at dawn today, led to the death of a number of our people, and it has failed and will fail to achieve its hateful goals in the region,” stressing that the Syrian people will remain committed to their constants. Patriotism and its principles that no one can bargain with, despite the aggression that befell him and the damage it left behind.
The Federation called on all cultural and humanitarian institutions and Arab and international organizations to put pressure on the Zionist entity to stop its repeated attacks that target peaceful civilians, stressing the necessity of calling on all organizations to immediately and permanently lift the economic blockade imposed on the Syrian people.
