– A 35-year-old tobogganist fell unconscious from the sled shortly before the finish line on the descent from the Obere Firstalm to the Spitzingsattel and was transported to the Agatharied hospital with ongoing resuscitation.

Lenz Haberle, spokesman for the Schliersee mountain rescue service, reports on the accident, which was alerted by the tobogganists' companions on Saturday around 10:15 p.m.

Man suddenly loses consciousness: "His acquaintances immediately started lay resuscitation"

The man from the Munich area had previously climbed the toboggan run, which was lightly lit at night, with a group of 15 and was already on his sledge on the descent to the Spitzingsattel when he lost consciousness 250 meters before the end of the route.

"His acquaintances immediately started with lay resuscitation," says Haberle.

The mountain guards continued to do this professionally until the emergency doctor and an ambulance arrived and took the man to the hospital.

According to Haberle, the toboggan run, which is about 500 meters in altitude, is not exceptionally steep.

However, the sled driver was known to have a previous heart condition.

In addition to seven helpers from the Schliersee mountain rescue service, two members of the Bavarian mountain rescue service were also on duty.

Together they looked after the toboggan group until about 2 a.m. in the Arabella Alpenhotel.
