The message is clear and belligerent.
This Saturday, February 18, during a patrol in the Bay of Biscay, teams from the non-governmental organization Sea Shepherd made a macabre discovery.
The body of a dolphin was recovered, partly "
cut up for consumption
" and bearing the inscription "
Sea Shepherd PD
".
“
Is that fishing in France?
“, was moved Sea Shepherd France.
"
The profession must really clean up its ranks and the State must lift the climate of impunity that reigns at sea.
" The organization announced on Saturday that it had filed a complaint against X "
for mutilation of a protected species
" and also called for the opening of an investigation to identify "
the fishermen who committed this barbaric act
".
This dismal finding, if it is particularly hostile towards Sea Shepherd France, is however not anecdotal.
“
It is not the first time
” that such inscriptions have been engraved with a knife on the lifeless body of one of these mammals, when it is a protected species and these acts therefore constitute an offense .
In January, five dolphins were found disembowelled in the Arcachon basin, a way of sinking their corpses.
Several hundred remains have been found since the end of December.

"
It's a real disaster, it's a carnage
", denounces Sea Shepherd again.
"
We will not give up until there are concrete measures that have been taken to save these dolphins
," says the association, which calls in particular for the installation of cameras on fishing boats that criss-cross the Gulf of Gascony, in order to prevent fishermen, when a dolphin finds themselves in their nets, from deciding to kill it rather than throwing it back alive into the ocean.
