The deer torn by a dog on the Riederstein is still unclear. The problem of free-roaming dogs also persists - the hunter is now putting up information boards.

The deer torn by a dog on the Riederstein is still unclear.

The problem of free-roaming dogs also persists - the hunter is now putting up information boards.

Tegernsee

– Two weeks ago, a deer's tear caused by a dog caused horror.

But dogs are still running free near the crime scene in front of the Riederstein parking lot.

Animal lovers and the hunter are now trying to use information boards.

It's as if that horrific incident hadn't happened on February 5th when a stray dog chased and bit to death a leading deer at the end of the Riederstein trail and near the parking lot.

Eyewitnesses witnessed these horrible scenes up close and had to run to safety.

“We saw the dog bite into the screaming deer.

He tugged at the animal, dragged it across the street.

He bit like a beast.

Just like you know it from horror films,” reported the couple who were on their way to the Riederstein.

Hunting leaseholder puts up notice boards

But when the police arrived, the dog was gone.

The deer stayed behind – bitten to death by a large, black dog, as the hikers reported.

Now the hunting tenant Lorenz Höß is trying to track down the dog owner with signs.

A 500 euro reward from private individuals for the Tegernseer Tal animal protection association is exposed.

But even two weeks after the incident, the police in Bad Wiessee have not received any usable information about the dog owner.

The public demand by the chairman of the animal protection association, Johanna Ecker-Schotte, for a leash obligation does not seem to be fruitful either, as research in our newspaper showed on Saturday.

At about the same place where the reported incident occurred, a deer calmly changed the forest road to the Riederstein.

As soon as it was out of sight, a black and white spotted dog ran past the point of deer crossing, but without any hunting instinct.

His master rode downhill on a mountain bike.

However, the recreational athlete did not keep an eye on his dog.

Free-roaming dogs: "You have to raise awareness of the problem"

"Where the deer was killed, deer are always on the move, especially above the villas on a southern slope," explains Höß.

He often speaks to people with loose dogs.

Most recently, he heard the answer from an owner of a large dog, "that's a nose dog and not a biting dog".

The hunting tenant explains that his experiences with dog owners are shared.

Some would attach their dog to his cues, some would show incomprehension.

But Höß does not give up in view of the many dogs in his territory near Lake Tegernsee: "You have to keep dog owners aware of this problem."
