Regarding the size of the rescue work carried out by the Civil Defense in Tartous, its director, Brigadier General Munther Al-Ibrahim, explained in a statement to SANA that they rescued 17 people from under the rubble, and pulled out 50 victims, in addition to handing over all the money, gold jewelry and other things that were found under the rubble to their owners. duly.

Brigadier General Al-Ibrahim recalled what the 64 Civil Defense men in Tartous went through with the rescue and ambulance crew, from the impressive humanitarian situations during their participation in the search and rescue operations, and the eagerness of the families of the victims and their fear for the civil defense personnel, which was one of the most important motives for insisting on working in difficult circumstances, but it gave a true picture About the integrity and responsibility of the Syrian Civil Defense.

Among the civil defense officers, Major Ali Khadr, who was injured during his participation in the rescue operations in the Al-Fayd neighborhood of Jableh, spoke about the distinction of the human element in this system, through qualitative training, elaborate work and speed of response, stressing his insistence on returning to follow up the mission with his comrades after receiving the necessary treatment in terms of the performance of the trust. The features of the face of a surviving child remained imprinted in the memory of the ambulance trainer, Harb Melhem, who took over the leadership of the rescue crew in the Ghazala area in the city of Jableh, where he recalled the scene of removing the 3-year-old from under the rubble, saying: “His face was regaining the color of life despite the severe injury to his jaw.” upper.”

First Assistant Manea Mulla stressed that protecting the surviving civilians is an essential task in addition to search and rescue operations from under the rubble of buildings, pointing to the need to spread a culture of awareness and self-protection while not approaching dangerous areas in order to preserve people's lives and to help rescuers to perform their tasks.

The rescue team needs the necessary supplies of first aid materials to be at its side, as mentioned by the paramedic, First Sergeant Ghadir Mualla, to provide the necessary health care for the survivors, pending their delivery to the hospitals, recalling the scene of the joy of one of the survivors when he met his family after three days had passed since he was under the rubble.
