More than 14 million people are under winter weather alert in 17 states of the United States

Snowfall of 12 to 36 inches is possible in the Cascades and Rocky Mountains through Monday or so. These are some places where snowfall could arrive.

Officials have issued winter weather watches from the west coast to northeast Michigan and include more than 14 million people.

Snowfall of 12 to 36 inches is possible in the Cascades and Rocky Mountains through Monday or so.

Some places in the northern and central plains of the country can get between 30 and 60 centimeters of snow later this week.

Here are some of those places and when the snowfall could arrive:

Yellow Stone National Park

Watch:

Winter Storm Warning until 5 am local time Wednesday

Impact:

Heavy snowfall of 7 to 35 centimeters in the lower valleys and 18 to 91 centimeters at high elevations.

Winds gusting to 65 km/h.

The heaviest snowfall will be this Monday night.

Salt Lake City, Utah

Watch:

Impact:

Heavy snowfall that will leave between 6 and 30 centimeters of snow.

Impact:

Heavy snowfall 3 to 12 inches at lower elevations and 12 to 24 inches in the mountains.

Additional details:

Wind gusts up to 65 km/h.

Billings, Montana

Alert:

Winter Storm Watch from 5 am

Impact:

Blizzard conditions possible, with 9 to 40 centimeters of snow.

Additional details:

Gusts up to 80 km/h.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Watch:

Winter Storm Watch Tuesday night through Thursday afternoon.

Impact:

Possible blizzard conditions with snowfall in excess of 12 inches.

Additional details:

Gusts up to 72 km/h.
