Rose Monday train Düsseldorf 2023: This is the train route

Düsseldorf – After a two-year Corona break, the time has finally come again this year: On Shrove Monday, February 20th, everyone in Düsseldorf will say “Helau” again.

Because then the traditional Shrove Monday procession takes place - but not as usual.

Because this year, the Düsseldorf Rose Monday procession will have a new route.

Rosenmontagszug 2023 in Düsseldorf: A new route due to a construction site

Shrove Monday starts at 12 p.m.

The carnival procession starts on Corneliusstraße, but then it does not continue on the usual route.

"Due to the major construction site on Friedrichstrasse, the Shrove Monday train unfortunately cannot be returned to Bilker station via this road," says Shrove Monday train leader Michael Faustmann.

Instead, the route is returned from Graf-Adolf-Platz via Graf-Adolf-Straße and Hüttenstraße back to Corneliusstraße.

From here it goes via Bilker Allee to Bilker Bahnhof, where the train dissolves as usual.

Rose Monday procession 2023: closures throughout Düsseldorf

The barriers around Königsallee have been in place since Sunday morning.

From 7 a.m. on Shrove Monday there will be further barriers in Düsseldorf.

The area around the Wagenbauhalle (Merowingerstraße) is particularly affected.

From 7:30 a.m. the blockage around the installation route (Mecumstr./Erasmusstr./Corneliusstr.) between "Auf'm Hennekamp" and Herzogstraße and access roads in the vicinity will also apply.

From 8 a.m., or 8:30 a.m. at the latest, the entire route including the roads leading to it will be closed.

Rose Monday procession 2023 in Düsseldorf on TV: broadcast on ARD

In 2023, the Düsseldorf Shrove Monday procession will again be broadcast on TV.

The WDR shows the Düsseldorf Rose Monday procession from 3 p.m.

ARD broadcasts the train on Shrove Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The whole spectacle is again commented on by former Venetia Janine Kemmer and ARD presenter Sven Lorig.

As a reporter, Aljoscha Höhn reports directly from the migration route.

Order in the Düsseldorf Rose Monday procession 2023: who drives when?

Since the end of January it has also been clear what the order of the Düsseldorf Rose Monday procession looks like.

As in previous years, it was drawn by Prince Dirk II and Venetia Uåsa.
