The Rose Monday procession 2023 starts in Düsseldorf around 12 noon. Many motto floats are dedicated to political issues such as the Ukraine war, Iran or the climate.
Düsseldorf – A highlight of the Düsseldorf 2023 Shrove Monday procession: the motto wagons.
As every year, the famous motto wagons by wagon builder Jacques Tilly had been eagerly awaited in advance.
Early in the morning, the motto wagons for the Düsseldorf Shrove Monday procession made their way from the wagon construction hall in Düsseldorf-Bilk in the direction of the city centre.
In addition to the Ukraine war, another big topic in 2023 was the climate and the activists of the “last generation”.
Car builder Jacques Tilly presented a draft of the climate-themed car on Friday (February 17).
Above the inscription "Who are the climate terrorists?": A climate sticker blocks a menacing car that emits a lot of CO2.
A rear wheel of the car is modeled on the bucket wheel of a lignite excavator, with the inscription “Garzweiler” on it.
At the Garzweiler opencast mine, climate activists occupied the village of Lützerath for several months, which was finally demolished in mid-January so that the RWE energy company can mine the coal underneath.
Wagon builder Jacques Tilly makes it clear: he supports the cause of climate protection with the wagon and appealed to so-called climate stickers not to block the Shrove Monday procession.
