The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck the country on February 6 has risen to 41,020, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).
The Anadolu Agency quoted Yunus Sezer, the head of the AFAD Administration, as saying, “More than 6,210 aftershocks followed the earthquake,” pointing out that more than 460,900 people have been evacuated so far.
Sezer pointed out that 318,970 people, who were evacuated from the earthquake-hit area, are being hosted in guesthouses and public hotels, and rescue teams have set up 216,166 tents to shelter the affected people, sent by ministries, relevant institutions and international organizations.
A previous toll yesterday indicated that 40,689 people were killed.
