The district court accepted the municipality's petition to change the route of the light planes, so that the flights do not pass at a low altitude over the houses of the residents of Kfar Saba

The municipality of Kfar Saba registers a victory in the fight over exceeding the minimum flight altitude limits, as part of a petition it submitted to the Central District Court, together with the South Sharon Council.

This is a petition against the Civil Aviation Authority, in which the court is asked to order the Civil Aviation Authority to prohibit light aircraft flights that exceed the minimum height allowed in the flight regulations over populated areas of the two authorities.

According to the petition, on the map of the training areas of the Herzliya Airport, there are flight paths and training areas above the populated areas of Kfar Saba and settlements in the south of Sharon, where the minimum altitude for flying is significantly lower than that specified in the regulation - which could endanger the safety of the residents of the entire area.

It is also claimed in the petition that the Kfar Saba Municipality's requests to the Civil Aviation Authority regarding changing the height of the routes and the minimum height indication in the flight area - were answered in the negative, and this after a long correspondence on the subject, while the Civil Aviation Authority, according to the petition, backtracks on its commitment to correct the height.

At the hearing held at the district court last weekend, the municipality's petition regarding the route of the flights was accepted, and the route will be changed so that it moves several kilometers north and does not pass over the residents' houses. Regarding the height of the flights, upon the recommendation of the court, negotiations will take place between the parties - to reduce the problem. It should be emphasized that this On the light aircraft flights from Herzliya airport only.

The mayor, Rafi Sa'ar: "We will not allow harm and the creation of a safety hazard for our residents to continue and we will not compromise on this important issue.

I am happy that the court and the State of Israel understood the importance of the issue, and that it was decided to amend the flight map, and I hope that the issue of the height of the minimum flights will also reach an agreement.

The municipality of Kfar Saba prioritizes the safety and quality of life of its residents."
