Storm in the north, unusually mild in the south – the weather in Germany is divided into two at the start of the week.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official warning of widespread storm and wind gusts for the north and east.
The focus of the storm is therefore the coasts in the north.
It also gets rough in the Harz Mountains.
Hurricane gusts (storms) are to be expected on the Brocken and the Fichtelgebirge.
Only in the south will it remain sunny.
Weather in Germany: DWD warns of storm depression Willy
According to the DWD, a strong south-west to west wind is to be expected in the north and east as well as in parts of central Germany.
Brandenburg, Berlin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg are particularly affected.
Storm gusts also occur repeatedly on the German Bight and from Rügen to Berlin.
Between Flensburg and Cuxhaven as well as on Rügen, heavy gusts of wind are expected at times and hurricane-like gusts on the Brocken.
In the north, stiff to stormy gusts around 70 km/h (7 to 8 Bft)
Scattered gusts of wind around 85 km/h (9 Bft) in the north-east
Frequent gusts of wind of 85 km/h (9 Bft) on the coasts and in the higher mountains, isolated severe gusts of wind of around 90 km/h (10 Bft)
Hurricane gusts or hurricane gusts up to 115 km/h (11 to 12 Bft) on the Brocken and the Fichtelberg

Weather in Germany: Unusually mild temperatures in southern and central Germany
In the south, a high pressure influence continues to determine the weather.
Unusually mild air masses are also flowing into central Germany.
The maximum values are between eight and twelve degrees.
On the other hand, the day is particularly pleasant south of the Main, often sunny in the afternoon.
With twelve to 17 degrees, it is unusually mild for this time of year.
After the record January, a weather expert predicted a "hot February".
Apparently it looks like it.

On Shrove Monday, a peak of 15 to almost 20 degrees is possible again.
According to the meteorologist, it could continue on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
Somewhat cooler temperatures were only indicated from Thursday.
"The great cold?
It's not really in sight on the weather maps.” In his opinion, the long-term trend does not indicate any extreme cold at all.
Only individual forecast runs would sometimes show an outlier in the current calculations of the weather models.

Shrove Monday:
9 to 19 degrees, some rain in the north, otherwise lots of sunshine
Mardi Gras:
10 to 18 degrees, often friendly and dry
Ash Wednesday:
8 to 16 degrees, more clouds, rain showers from the west
Thursday:
7 to 13 degrees, mix of sun and clouds, a few showers
Friday:
5 to 10 degrees, much cooler, but still no wintry cold, rain showers
Saturday:
4 to 9 degrees, mix of sun and clouds, a few showers in the higher areas, sleet or snow
Sunday:
2 to 7 degrees, cold and wet bad weather, rain showers in places
Monday:
3 to 8 degrees, mixed, showers again and again, sleet or snow in the higher areas
Tuesday:
5 to 11 degrees, mix of sun and clouds, occasional rain showers, sleet showers in the higher areas
Will the heat stay until the end of February?
It will be a little colder again by the end of February, predicts Dominik Jung.
But the temperatures would actually be much too warm for the time of year.
“What exactly might or might not happen in early March, keyword disintegrating polar vortex, Major Warming, is still completely up in the stars.
Possible snow showers at the beginning of March are really nothing earth-shattering, but 20 degrees in mid-February are," says weather expert Jung.
Many have already ticked off this winter.
Incidentally, a first summer forecast for 2023 is already available.
