Munich – Actually, the winter should still be in full swing.
However, the weather these days in Munich and the region shows the complete opposite: Temperatures have already skyrocketed in the past week, stormy weather brought values of almost 15 degrees in Munich.
Even the start of the new week has nothing left for winter in terms of weather, the thermometer rises to a whopping 16 degrees on Monday, February 20th - and there is plenty of sunshine.
A temperature record has even been broken in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the past few days.
But a look at the forecasts shows that the cold season should not be written off completely.

"In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 20.1 degrees were measured in the second decade of February.
That was also the highest value for the second decade of February since weather records began,” explains Dominik Jung, weather expert at

Overall, the feeling is not deceptive as far as the mild weather in February is concerned.
"February 2023 is currently already 2.7 degrees warmer than the average climate for the years 1961 to 1990 and this deviation will continue to increase in the coming days," Jung continued.
Winter just doesn't seem to be around at the moment.
But that could change massively over the course of the week.

predicts, the temperatures in Munich and the region will fall steadily in the coming days.
From Friday, February 24th, even snow signals will be displayed in the Bavarian state capital.
The temperatures should then not exceed the three degrees at the top, in the nights then - as of now - temperatures below zero degrees should return.
Is this the last attempt of the winter to take command?
In March, the situation is probably still very uncertain: "Whether and what exactly happened in March, on the other hand, is still completely uncertain," Jung continued.
So it only remains to be seen and to continue to follow the weather roller coaster of these days.
