A 3-year-old boy in Sheung Wan fell from the corridor on the first floor and lay down on the ground floor opposite Times Commercial Building, 62 Connaught Road West, Sheung Wan. There was a toy gun and a small amount of blood on the ground.
According to the neighbor, the boy's family of four moved in last October. The child is usually naughty, and his mother often scolds him.
In the incident, the 25-year-old Filipino mother was arrested for allegedly abusing or neglecting children or juveniles in her care. She has been released on bail pending investigation and will report to the police in late March.
The case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Western District Police District for follow-up.
There are 7 subdivided rooms in the unit at the scene. It is understood that the father of the boy rarely comes back and is not in Hong Kong at present. The mother mainly takes care of the two sons.
At the time of the incident, the mother took the eldest son away from home to go to school, leaving the youngest son at home alone.
During the period, the youngest son left the subdivided room and went to the corridor of the unit to play, fell from the window in the corridor, and lay on the ground.
Passers-by immediately called the police when they saw this. Not long after, the mother returned to the residence and found her son lying on the ground, and she accompanied her to the hospital afterwards.
The victim suffered facial injuries and was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
