The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda provided more than 43,000 free plants to support afforestation campaigns and afforestation plans for the current season.
And the head of the Forestry Department in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Anas Abu Fakhr, told SANA reporter today that during the current season, in addition to the free seedlings provided, 1083 saplings were sold according to the prices approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, pointing out that there are about 388,455 forest saplings currently available for sale and distribution to serve Agricultural operations, expansion of green areas, and re-cultivation of what was cut in the past period.
The forest area in As-Suwayda governorate is 12,065 hectares, distributed as 8,065 hectares of state forestry, and 4,000 hectares of private forestry.
