Welcome to the United States of America - a land where not only the possibilities are unlimited, but also the tastelessness.
One of the most burning, polarizing, and painful issues in the public discourse in the US is the right to bear arms and the ease with which firearms can be obtained, especially in certain states. Luis Minardi from Odessa, Florida is not difficult to place on this political map - his opinion on firearms issues is spread across the entire backyard of the house. And it can be clearly seen from a bird's eye view or from a drone - Minardi has a huge swimming pool in the shape of a gun
in the yard. Minardi built the pool 40 years ago, and his neighbors still have trouble digesting this design choice. To try to find out who the crazy person is that lives here," Minardi said in an interview with a local news site in Florida. By the way, the house's address matches the design choices perfectly for disturbing: on Gunn Highway.
The children would swim in the lake, and she would stand ready with a shotgun.
Luis Minardi and his wife
The gun pool was built in the 1980s after Minardi discovered that his children used to bathe in a nearby lake, which was infested with alligators and water snakes, while their mother (his wife) stood ready with a shot gun in case one of the children was bitten or attacked.
A childhood friend of his, who became a contractor, convinced him to let him build the ambitious pool - 17 meters long, in his yard.
The contractor, who knew Minardi's fondness for guns and firearms - he got his first rifle in middle school and in the 1970s he started a gun manufacturing business - presented him with a sketch of a pool in the style of a Western-style Roger Blackhawk pistol, known for its long barrel.
In the original pool, the layout of the floor tiles was designed so that their shades would be different to emphasize the details of the gun, such as the bullet chamber and the trigger area, and the wall band.
In the upper part of the gun, in the area of the treadle hammer - a jacuzzi was designed.
Over the years that have passed since its construction, the pool has been renovated and re-roofed several times, so the small details can no longer be seen.
But the outer outline of the gun shape is still clearly visible.
"You swim in pools along the barrel, the water becomes deeper at the end, when you reach the mouth you turn around and swim back in the other direction," Minardi explained the use of the pool (as if that's what needs explaining in this story).
