If you want to buy a stamp, you have to take another route in Gartenberg.

It is still unclear when this will change.

Geretsried – Since the post office on Prießnitzweg closed, older residents in the Gartenberg district in particular do not know how to get a stamp or send a parcel without a car.

The anger is great.

Volker Reeh (Geretsrieder Liste) recently took up this topic in the main and finance committee.

Post office in Geretsried closed: Does the company fulfill its supply obligation?

According to a notice, the post office in Kaufland on Bayerwaldstraße in Geretsried surprisingly closed in the last week of January and the first week of February.

"It's difficult for the Gartenbergers when they suddenly find themselves without any mail at all." With a view to the Postal Act, he asked the administration to examine the options available to ensure the supply.

The Postal Act or the Postal Universal Service Ordinance stipulates that in communities with more than 4,000 inhabitants in contiguous built-up areas, the nearest branch must be within a maximum of two kilometers.

Post: Counters in Kaufland were only closed for one day

In Mayor Michael Müller's (CSU) eyes, the Post maintains the basic service.

The municipality is not responsible here and it is not up to him to speak for the post office, said the head of the town hall.

But he assured: "We are in close contact."

When asked by our newspaper, Dieter Nawrath, press spokesman for the postal group, confirmed that the letter and parcel service at the kiosk in Kaufland had closed.

However, “only one day due to change of operator”.

Now the switch has opened again.

As reported, the lights went out in the branch on Prießnitzweg at the turn of the year.

The partnership with the former operator ended and the search for a successor proved difficult.

That's why the company decided to open a branch at the previous location.

The aim was actually February.

When asked again, spokesman Dieter Nawrath explains: "Unfortunately, we haven't found any staff yet." The company is very happy about applications "so that we can open soon".

By the way: the future of the post office on Sudetenstraße is still uncertain.

The operator of the "Picks-Raus" store gave notice to the company at the end of May.

Swiss Post is looking for an alternative location.

Nawrath: "Due to ongoing promising talks, we are very, very confident that we can seamlessly set up a new partner branch not far from the current location." nej/sw
