Wolfratshausen – Usually, there are nicer occasions for which the Asylum Helpers Group organizes its World Café.

Last Sunday, refugees and volunteers collected donations for the victims of the devastating earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border region.

The Syrians living in Wolfratshausen organized a huge benefit buffet in the youth center La Vida.

The result was not only culinary: the many visitors donated a total of around 4000 euros for the family members of the Syrians who are staying in the crisis region and are dependent on help.

"We give a large part of the income directly to the families of our Syrians," explains the helper group coordinator Ines Lobenstein.

The rest will be donated to the aid organizations "Doctors Without Borders" and the "Orienthelfer".

Some of the Syrians living here have families in the region around the metropolis of Gaziantep.
