Halle – During the carnival parade on Shrove Monday in Halle, a 21-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

The police said on Monday that she had been hit by a themed car.

After the accident between a theme car and the woman, the move was canceled.

The closing event on the market square was also cancelled.

This was announced by the President of the Halle-Saalkreis Carnival Association (HSKV), Ingo Küßner.

The woman was taken to a hospital by paramedics, police said.

How the accident happened was initially unclear.

The move to Halle is one of the largest in Saxony-Anhalt.

This year's motto is "Mr sinn widder da!" (We're back!).

According to Küßner, around 1,500 participants from 53 clubs ran on the train.

After a two-year break due to the corona pandemic, the Rose Monday processions with thousands of fools started again in Köthen and Halle.

In Köthen, patron Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) was there before the start of the parade to receive the carnivalists.

In Saxony-Anhalt, according to their own statements, 190 clubs with around 17,600 carnival participants are currently organized in the state carnival association.
