2023-02-22T16:14:12.404Z

The channel will soon launch a new program centered on the economic aspect of farms and their diversification.

Agriculture is a hot topic on television.

M6 knows something about it with "Love is in the meadow" which has been a hit for 18 years.

Buoyed by this success, the channel will soon be launching “Help our farms”, a new program centered on farmers.

The absence of Karine Le Marchand

This time, she will not talk about love but… about economy, a first in terms of concept.

And if Karine Le Marchand has done a lot in the media coverage of peasants on television, she will not present this new program.

The host does not turn her back on rurality, however, since she is producing a long documentary, currently being filmed, which will retrace the evolution of agriculture through the history of six farming families.

She passes the baton to Marie Portolano, who notably presents “The best pastry chef”, who will be the face of this new program which comes to the aid of farmers.

In France, many small French farms have to diversify in order to have additional income and be able to get by.

A specialist to help farmers

Based on this observation, M6 and the production company Reservoir, have imagined a program supporting farmers who have decided to embark on this transition but who do not know how to do it.

For this, they called on a specialist in the person of Patrice Cougoureux.

This breeder from the Tarn has himself gone through this stage.

He took over his parents' farm, which was in great difficulty, and transformed it by making visits to the farm and offering visitors a catering service.

“He put himself at the service of farmers by sharing his experience.

He is an exceptional person, endearing and very sincere in his approach.

, explains Pierre-Guillaume Ledan, Deputy Managing Director of Programs in charge of flow programs at M6.

Filming, which started in April 2022, spanned ten months.

give hope

Two families, with different issues, were followed in the first show, which will be broadcast very soon.

The first raises Limousin and Normandy dairy cows and would like to sell directly on the farm.

The second grows vegetables and would like to start planting corn to then transform it into artisanal popcorn.

They would also like to start an educational farm.

“The idea is to give hope.

The situation is certainly not easy, but there are things to be done.

We want to show the positive aspects of the agricultural world”

, continues Pierre Guillaume Ledan.

If the concept can be reminiscent of an adaptation of "Nightmare in the kitchen" farm version, the program director denies it.

"The people we support are in real difficulty, but it's not necessarily because of the way they operate..."

, he concludes.
