The addition to the health budget that was supposed to be 5.58 billion shekels - will be cut to 918 million shekels, contrary to the coalition agreements - this is what Vala learned today (Wednesday).

Tomorrow, the draft of the state budget for next year will be presented in preparation for the discussions on the issue, and the health budget is expected to total NIS 45.7 billion.

The Association of Hospital Directors sent a letter to the Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich warning them of the move.

"Tomorrow, instead of dealing with ways to strengthen the public health system, we foresee nothing less than the collapse of the system," they wrote.

The managers expressed astonishment at the cut in the budget, and claimed that they would not be able to treat the patients: "We call on you to reach out, lift the glove and save the health system."

The budget framework will increase as every year, in favor of assisting the public hospitals, shortening specialist shifts and improving the service of specialist doctors in the periphery, as well as increasing the quota of doctors and nurses and two additional hospitals to be built.

Senior officials in the health system told Walla that the Israeli health system is in deficit compared to the OECD countries.

According to them, the addition that was cut in violation of the agreements is "the Hersh sheep and that too has been taken from us now".

"Forum 5 million" also sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he expressed his concern about the budget cuts.

"We have no doubt that a cut of this magnitude will destabilize the public health system in the near term and harm the health of millions of Israelis who are already facing unbearable queues and severe burdens in the hospitalization system and the health insurance funds," the appeal to Netanyahu reads.

"Such an extensive cut will also deepen the damage to the training of thousands of doctors and may even lead to the collapse of the public health system."

"In addition to this, this cut will also increase private spending on health and increase the cost of living on the backs of

The citizens of Israel, who are already groaning under inflation and rising interest rates in Israel, and beyond that will deepen the gaps and create medical services for the rich only," the forum warned. "Mr. Prime Minister, this is an emergency call warning you of harm to the health system's ability to fulfill its mission.

We turn to you with a real cry and call on you to stop the billions in cuts to the health of the citizens of Israel and prevent a serious injury that may result in the loss of life of many of the citizens of Israel." The Ministry of

Health has not yet provided a response.
