A lost pet pig was reunited with its owners in Alaska (but not before riding in the police vehicle)

He is 4 years old and his name is Elvis Pigsley. It is not the first time that he has run away from his home in the city of Anchorage, Alaska, but this time he attracted the attention of the community when photos of him were published on social networks covered in snow on the side of the road.

On February 13, officers responded to calls from several community members concerned about the presence of a pig that “appeared to be cold” on the side of a road. 

Nolan Boedigheimer, 30, was on his way to work with his dog when he saw something on the road at around 7am.

“My dog ​​started barking and I thought, 'That's a big dog,'” Boedigheimer told NBC News' Today morning show, Noticias Telemundo's sister network.

"I turned the corner and there was a pig standing there eating snow."

Boedigheimer took some photos and shared them on Facebook in the hope that the pet would find its way home with a little digital help.

The post was shared more than 100 times and Boedigheimer also alerted Alaska Potbelly Pig Rescue, but no one claimed the lost pig.

That same day, the Anchorage Police Department sent a patrol to search for him.

“We are all familiar with frozen bacon, but we never thought we would respond to a service call related to that issue,” police posted on their Facebook account.

“Turns out the burly guy was pretty friendly,” the post noted, accompanied by a photo of Elvis smiling in the backseat of the police car.

"They will be happy to know that he has been reunited with his family and that everything is okay."

Apparently, it is not the first time that Elvis has embarked on an adventure.

“He's an escape artist and well known in the neighborhood,” Elvis's owner, Angela Mullen-Herrera, told TODAY.com.

"He loves people and snacks and if he wants to go out and find people with snacks, nothing's stopping him."
