Today, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the framework of organizing the response of the social protection sector to the earthquake disaster, during which the efforts made within this framework were reviewed, with the aim of drawing up an action plan in the protection sector to achieve an effective response to the needs in the affected areas.
During the meeting, the needs at the local level were reviewed in each governorate that was affected by the earthquake, and it was agreed to hold technical meetings during the next few days with the technical team in the ministry to put in place the executive steps for the outputs of the meeting.
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Saif al-Din, stressed the need to mobilize more resources, funding and efforts outside the regular plans of international organizations, in a way that constitutes an effective and practical response to support non-governmental organizations to support and meet the needs of families affected by the earthquake.
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, international partner organizations in the field of social protection, and directors of social affairs and labor in the governorates of Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Idlib participated in the meeting.
