At 63.1, the retirement age of private sector employees continued to decline in 2022

DECRYPTION - The number of beneficiaries of the basic scheme continues to increase and now exceeds 15 million.


The French continue to work older and older, notes the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav), which pays the basic pensions of private sector employees and the self-employed.

Last year, the average retirement age thus rose to 63.1 years, compared to 62.9 years in 2021 and 62.8 years in 2020.

underlines Pascale Breuil, director of statistics within the CNAV.

That of 2010 simultaneously increased the legal age of departure from 60 to 62 years and that of departure without discount from 65 to 67 years.

To a lesser extent, Marisol Touraine's reform of 2014, which provides for an extension of the contribution period, also plays into this trend.
