Violent ultra-Orthodox demonstration in Jerusalem, February 22, 2023 (News of the World)
Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox protested last night (Tuesday) in the Shabbat Square in Jerusalem, protesting the arrest of four ultra-Orthodox, including the two who damaged the burning garbage can during the demonstration, which caused a woman to be seriously injured.
Dozens of the protesters blocked the central highway 1 and the light rail route, cursed policemen and broke mirrors of police vehicles.
A few hours later, the police declared that the demonstration was illegal, and dispersed it.
In addition to the two arrested for the burning trash can, the protesters called for the release of a man who set fire to a cell phone store, and of another who trimmed the beard of former MK Meir Proosh in September 2021. Dozens of buses from the area arrived at the point of the demonstration, in Shabbat square in the capital.
