Foreign Minister Eli Cohen prevented member of parliament, Ana Mirdana from Spain, from entering Israeli territory due to her background as an anti-Israel activist.
Miranda arrived in Israel with a delegation of additional members of parliament, whose goal was to pay a visit of sympathy to the Palestinians.
When Mirdana's passport was checked at the border control, it became clear that she was barred from entering Israel because she had previously participated in one of the flotillas to Gaza.
Her case was reviewed for six hours until it reached Cohen's desk and he ordered that she not be allowed into Israel.
A political official admitted that in the first place Mirdana should not have been allowed to board the plane to Israel.
Upon her return to Spain Mirdana was received sympathetically by her supporters.
The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs even contacted Israel on the matter.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said in response: "Israel welcomes the close and important relations with the countries of Europe and the European Union. The dialogue with the countries of Europe, which are the main trade partner of the State of Israel, is broad and honest, even when we do not see eye to eye on every issue. However , the State of Israel will not allow elements that try to harm it, cooperate with terrorist organizations or try to enter Israel illegally, to enter the country. I assumed that the entry of members of the European Parliament who expressed support for terrorist organizations or members of parliament who previously tried to enter Israel illegally would not be approved ".
