After investigation, the police arrested a 60-year-old male decoration worker on suspicion of "allowing objects to fall from the building". It is dangerous, so the above address has not been unblocked.

The Buildings Department stated that its staff found that scaffolding had been erected around the unauthorized building, and there were construction waste on the scaffolding.

The department has instructed workers to remove it, and there is no obvious danger at the scene.


The police pointed out that the owner had received a demolition order from the Buildings Department before the incident, so the day before yesterday (20th) he arranged for a licensed engineering company to carry out the demolition of the illegal structures.

The Buildings Department replied to "Hong Kong 01" in the early morning of the 23rd, saying that immediately after the incident, personnel were sent to the site to inspect and found that the platform of Room A on the 11th floor of the building at the address was being demolished. A scaffolding was built.

During the inspection, the staff of the department found construction waste on the scaffold and immediately instructed the workers of the relevant contractor to remove the waste.

The relevant demolition works have been suspended and there is no apparent danger at the scene.

The Buildings Department pointed out that if the demolition works of UBWs comply with the relevant requirements, they can be carried out through the Minor Works Control System and be carried out by qualified registered minor works contractors.

The registered minor works contractor concerned had submitted to the Department a notice to commence minor works involving the works in mid-February.

In addition, the Buildings Department emphasized that it will seriously follow up on the incident and complete the relevant investigation work as soon as possible to determine whether there is any violation of the Buildings Ordinance.

Appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found.
