Moroccan star singer Saad Lamjarred, who is appearing this week before the Paris assizes for aggravated rape, is also dismissed for a rape in Saint-Tropez in 2018, according to a decision of which AFP learned on Wednesday.

Saad Lamjarred, 37, has been on trial since Monday before the Paris Assize Court, accused of having raped and hit in a hotel room a young woman he had met in a nightclub, on the sidelines of a concert planned in the capital in 2016. He disputes the facts.

“His face has changed”

The singer, adored in Morocco and known throughout the Arab world, has also been accused of rape in New York, Casablanca and Saint-Tropez.

In the latter case, he was sent back to the Var Assize Court for rape, according to a judgment of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal dating from November 2021 that Advocate General Jean-Christophe Muller - who represents the prosecution in Paris - had it paid for the proceedings on Tuesday evening.

The date of the trial is not yet known.

When the document was distributed at the hearing, one of Saad Lamjarred's lawyers threw it to the ground, furious.

This judgment is indeed very embarrassing for the singer, as the alleged facts resemble those judged in Paris.

In the Saint-Tropez case, the complainant told investigators that she had met Saad Lamjarred in a famous nightclub.

She had later followed him to his hotel, only intending to have a drink there, according to her.
