A week after withdrawing the bills, including the one that would return the chairman of Shas to the government and the clause of overcoming, the coalition will vote on them in plenary in a preliminary reading. The coalition will also promote the proposal to ban the introduction of leavened cheese into hospitals on Passover and soften it later

Despite the calls for talks on the legal revolution, today (Wednesday) the coalition will advance three bills that it rejected last week for approval in a preliminary reading, and these may push the potential talks with the opposition on a reform compromise further.

Among other things, this is the bill known as "Deri's Law 2", which is intended to pave the way for Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri to the government, despite his disqualification by the High Court in a way that there will be no judicial review of ministerial appointments

. on promoting the bill because of its high chances of being invalidated by the High Court and instead looking for other legal avenues such as re-applying to the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, but those around him advised him to refrain from doing so due to the fear that his opponents would claim libel for the offenses for which he was convicted as part of the plea deal in a way that would completely alienate him from the Knesset. Meanwhile,

The bill on the overcoming clause, which is intended to overcome laws that the High Court has rejected, by a majority of 61 members of the Knesset, is also expected to be voted on in a preliminary reading. This is a proposal by MK Simcha Rothman.

The latter promotes a similar proposal through the Constitution Committee under his chairmanship, and the coalition has not yet decided which version will be promoted.

The leaders of the ultra-orthodox factions, Moshe Gafni and Yitzhak Goldknopf, were furious last week at the coalition's decision to remove the proposal from the agenda, and raised their anger before Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the coalition leaders' meeting on Sunday, and as a result - Minister Yariv Levin pledged that the proposal would be promoted.

Last week, the proposal was dropped from the agenda as part of an attempt to negotiate with the opposition, even though Minister Levin did not agree to stop the other legislative procedures of the reform, a decision that left the parties far from talks about possible compromises.

Another bill that should come up for a preliminary vote is MK Moshe Saada's proposal to separate the Department of Police Investigations from the Prosecutor's Office so that it would be under the Minister of Justice, as well as the proposal by MK Moshe Gafni of Torah Judaism, according to which the introduction of chametz to hospitals on Passover would be prohibited.

However, after its approval in preliminary reading, the coalition is expected to soften the wording of the law.

Last week, the opposition raised the demand not to promote the law designed to qualify Deri, despite its disqualification by the High Court, as part of the conditions for negotiations regarding the legal reform, but Justice Minister Levin rejected this demand and even continues to insist on not stopping the legislative proceedings "not even for a minute". as he said.
