A pre-impeachment hearing will be held tomorrow for the Director General of the Airports Authority, who was appointed to the position by the decision of the previous Minister of Transportation Michaeli. Since re-entering the position, Regev has started moves to cancel her decisions - and now the role of the general in the response is also in doubt. Will the government officials vote according to their discretion, or according to Minister's discretion?

The Airports Authority Board will hold a hearing tomorrow morning before impeaching the Authority's CEO, Major General Hagai Topolansky - who took office seven months ago. Topolansky, a

former fighter pilot, commander of squadrons and bases, deputy commander of the Air Force and head of the IDF's personnel division, was appointed His position was held by the previous Minister of Transportation Merav Michaeli after he was elected to the position by a search committee.

During the short period in which he managed the Authority, the lines at the security check at Ben Gurion Airport were dramatically shortened, the flights from Ramon Airport were regulated and expanded, and the proportion of international flights that took off on time increased from 30 percent to approximately 60 percent.

The initiative to oust him is led by the chairman of the PA, Major General Yitzhak Gershon, former commander of the paratroopers brigade, commander of the IOS division and commander of the Home Front Command.

In 2020, Gershon joined the "Securityists" movement calling for the annexation of Judea and Samaria - and in the same year was appointed to the position by Regev in her first term as Minister of Transportation.

Gershon submitted the request to discuss Topolanski's impeachment at the end of January, but the discussion was postponed after members of the council demanded to know whether the allegations against Topolanski had even been brought before him and what his response was.

She has not yet given her response.

Relations between Gershon and Topolansky were correct until the upheaval in the elections, and became hostile on Gershon's part with Regev's return to the office.

The Minister of Transportation then asked the ministry and the bodies subordinate to it to receive the list of office holders appointed during the Michaeli period.

This, in an attempt to examine their replacement and appoint people in their place on her behalf.

In addition, Regev initiated other moves designed to cancel professional decisions taken by Michaeli, such as the reform of public transportation rates and the opening of the public transportation route and the shared vehicle on Route 1.

The authority's board of directors now has eight members besides the chairman Gershon, of whom four are government officials, some of whom work under Regev at the Ministry of Transportation, and four external directors. The list of government officials includes Avner Flor, appointed by Regev to the position of Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Her former chief of staff Dani Ben Zaken, who was appointed as deputy director general after his appointment as director general was not approved, was mentored, as well as Noa Litmanovich, head of the economics department at the Public Transportation Authority in the ministry. Two other representatives come from government ministries that are not subject to Regev, including Merav Dadosh from the Authority The taxes, Yasmin Abu Paul from the Ministry of Justice, a senior official at the State Attorney's Office in the Haifa district.
