Rodrigo de Paul will be out for this Saturday's derby against the tough Real Madrid due to a
muscle injury in his left thigh
that Atlético de Madrid confirmed this Wednesday.
This is a new drop for Diego Simeone, coach of Atlético de Madrid, who had made the starting midfielder
in the last five games.
The world champion with the Argentine National Team was injured in the match last Sunday against Athletic Club at the Metropolitan Stadium.
"Rodrigo de Paul suffers a muscle injury in his left thigh, diagnosed after undergoing medical tests," the rojiblanco club announced on Wednesday before morning training at the Ciudad Deportiva in the Madrid town of Majadahonda.
From the club they indicated that the Argentine will begin receiving physiotherapy sessions, "he will undergo rehabilitation training and his evolution is pending."
Atlético does not specify a period of loss, although this type of injury requires a minimum of two weeks of recovery, so he will not be able to play the following Saturday against Sevilla either.
De Paul's injury joins Sergio Reguilón among the safe casualties for next Saturday's duel.
The full-back has also suffered from a muscular ailment since Monday.
