Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced that President Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill to the parliament to suspend Russia's participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START).
The Novosti agency quoted Volodin as saying: “The President of the Russian Federation submitted to the Council a federal draft law regarding Russia’s suspension of the treaty concluded between the Russian Federation and the United States of America regarding measures aimed at further reducing and limiting strategic offensive weapons, indicating that it will be considered in a plenary session of the Council in The project and will take a decision on it immediately, and immediately after that it will be sent to the Federation Council.
Putin announced during his speech before the Federal Assembly earlier yesterday the suspension of Russia's participation in the START strategic offensive weapons, stressing that his country did not withdraw from the treaty.
