The Chairman of the Board of the Broadcasting Corporation, Gil Omer, and the CEO of the Broadcasting Corporation, Golan Yokhpaz, gave their response in a letter published today (Wednesday) to Communications Minister Shlomo Karai's plan, the details of which were published for the first time in Israel today, to enact a reform that will change the future of public broadcasting in Israel.
Will change the communication market?

In their words, they said: "We received your letter with regret, which should be seen as nothing more than an attempt by a political party to act as a censor on a professional and decent media body. The letter, it seems, is the culmination of an ongoing process, on your part and on the part of someone on your behalf, to harm in any way the Israel Broadcasting Corporation and its extraordinary achievements to which it has reached since its establishment.
"We're not going anywhere."

It is not for nothing that the corporation's broadcasts are defined as public broadcasting and not government broadcasting.
Since its establishment, the corporation has not received a letter of this kind from any Minister of Communications, regardless of its political or party affiliation.
The Israel Broadcasting Corporation will continue to operate in a decent, professional and independent manner."
Earlier today, Minister Karai published a letter in which he claimed that the Public Broadcasting Corporation violates the provisions of the Public Broadcasting Law in the way it covers the legal reform.
As I recall, the planned media reform drew strong reactions and protests against it, and there is professional and public pressure to stop it.
