The Civil Guard rescues three young people injured in the Moncayo and locates another seven who had been lost

The Civil Guard has rescued three young people this Wednesday afternoon who had suffered a slight accident when they were on an excursion to Moncayo (2,314 meters above sea level).

The firefighters of Tarazona (Zaragoza) and Soria have located seven others from the same group of hikers who were near the summit of the peak, between the provincial limits of Soria and Zaragoza.

The agents have detailed that the members of the group, among which there are several minors, had been lost in the ascent.

The three victims slipped near the Pozo de San Miguel, on the north face of the mountain.

The seven located are already accompanied by members of the rescue team and are currently descending the mountain, not without difficulty because it is night and because it is an area of ​​slippery rock and with low temperatures, reports a source from the armed institute.

The group, made up of young people between the ages of 16 and 18 from Murchante (Navarra), is going to the Santuario de la Misericordia, a usual point of departure for excursions to the mountains, reported the sub-delegate of the Government in Soria, Miguel Tower.

At 4:15 p.m., the Civil Guard received a notice at central 062 warning of the fall of three young people in an area of ​​ice and snow on the mountain.

From Soria, four Civil Guard patrols have been sent to the area, in addition to many others from the province of Zaragoza.

The Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (Greim) and the Tarazona Fire Department have also been activated, in addition to a mountain helicopter unit based in Huesca, which has not been able to act due to the heavy mist that covered the mountain.

In addition to the members of the lost group, the assistance services of Aragon have also displaced means and have rescued three other people - unrelated to the lost young people - who had also become disoriented in the vicinity of the mountain on Wednesday afternoon.
