The furniture of this vast building of the 17th century, property of the State, had been sold at “prices which would be much lower than their real value”.

The Attorney General at the Court of Auditors announced on Wednesday February 22 to request an investigation into the sale of furniture from the Château de Grignon (Yvelines) which seems to have been sold, in 2022, at discounted prices.

It is "

the first time

" that the Attorney General has decided to take, within the framework of the regime of financial responsibility of public managers, an indictment of initiative "

on the basis of information published in various press organs

", underlined the Court in a press release.

“Prices” very “lower than their real value”

In June 2022, an auction was organized in Grignon, the cradle of French agronomy to the west of Paris, on the occasion of the relocation of the AgroParisTech school to the Saclay plateau (Essonne) to the south of the capital city.

The furniture of this vast building of the 17th century, property of the State, had been sold at "

prices which would be much lower than their real value

", noted the Court, "

the furniture having been identified as simple copies, when certain parts would probably be of time

”.

The instruction launched by the litigation chamber will determine (…) whether rules have been broken and, if necessary, will define the responsibilities

”, it was specified from the same source.
