The end of debates: where is the best place for you to sit on a flight? | Israel today

2023-02-22T08:56:16.858Z

Are you about to fly and haven't chosen a seat yet? If you want to be safe, you should choose a middle seat in the back of the plane • And which are the most dangerous seats?

Anyone who has ever boarded a plane, couldn't help but hope that he would get the best seat he wanted - it's not just that the airlines allow you to choose even a specific seat (for a fee, of course).

But if you ever wanted to choose the seat that would be the safest for you, how would you know what to choose?

There are so many possibilities, so you should use statistics.

• Bad news for flying abroad: this is the reason for the jump in the prices of your vacations

• Abandoned boats: unusual weather "removed" the water from the streets of Venice

• Less than two hours away from the country: direct flights to the dream destination that Israelis have not yet discovered

Go for it

According to a study by "Time" magazine, which examined 35 years of plane accidents, the middle rear seat at the back of the plane has the lowest mortality rate - 28%, compared to 44% in the seats closest to the aisle in the center of the plane.

Close to the exits?

According to CNN, the reason for this is that sitting in this position is usually closer to the exits of the plane, but it is important to remember that they are close to the wings - where the plane's fuel is located, so in some cases it may not be such an optimal position.

Another reason for sitting in the back is that in case the plane crashes with its "nose" forward, the front seats will be the ones that take the hardest hit.

Also remember that if you sit in the center of the row, the passengers next to you will be a kind of padding for you.

In-flight emergencies are not something passengers want to encounter, but you can rest easy: airplanes are built to be very durable.

Evidence of this can be seen in cases where planes get caught in air pockets: pilots ask us in such cases to fasten our seat belts, since in some cases they may cause physical harm to the passengers and the plane - and not if the plane is about to crash (how do you say? Not on us).

According to the National Safety Council of the United States, the chance of dying in an airplane is 1 in 205,552, a very small figure - especially compared to the chance of dying while in a car, which is 1 in 102.

It is not for nothing that the plane is considered one of the safest means of transportation.
