Why is there a strike?

The local government will shut down the economy on the day of the debate on the government's budget due to the "treasury ignoring its demands".

The local government claims that the decision was made as a result of the intention to harm the budgets of the authorities and their powers.

The local authorities demand, among other things, a salary agreement and terms of employment for the assistants, completion of the lack of classrooms and the cancellation of the property tax fund.

In the public education systems, approximately 55,000 aides are employed in kindergartens, after-school programs and special education systems.

The local government says that every day there is a shortage of 3,000 nursery staff/assistants in the kindergartens alone.

In order to solve the aide crisis, the local government requires a budget for a comprehensive reform of the aide's salary, improving their professional status to support teaching and creating a developmental professional horizon through degree studies and training.

The local government is also demanding the cancellation of the "Property Fund" that the Ministry of Finance is bringing to the approval of the Government in the Law of Arrangements on Thursday.

These are provisions that the authorities will have to make from the property tax collection for businesses (malls, offices, industrial zones), i.e. a fund from local government funds to encourage the construction of residential apartments.
