STORY - National Defense Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky has launched a major recruitment campaign for young people in good physical condition who speak foreign languages.

Eighty years ago, in the winter of 1943, the Hungarian Second Army, with its two hundred thousand men, was almost totally annihilated, in appalling conditions, by the Red Army during the Battle of Stalingrad.

The bitterest Magyar defeat since the battle of Mohács in 1526 against the Ottoman troops of Suleiman the Magnificent.
