Following the events in Nablus, the Palestinians will try to take advantage of the situation to exert international pressure against Israel.

The Palestinian leadership decided to appeal to the UN Security Council with a request to hold an urgent discussion in order to "receive international protection for the Palestinian people, and to condemn the massacre carried out by Israel in Nablus".

The events in Nablus come a few days after the Palestinians withdrew the proposed resolution condemning settlement construction in the UN Security Council following agreements reached under American pressure. According to them, Israel will not settle new settlements in Judea and Samaria beyond the nine previously approved.

A member of the PLO leadership told Israel today that in view of the military operation in Nablus and its results, "the Palestinian leadership cannot remain committed to the understandings reached as long as Israel violates them.

The representatives of the American government obtained an understanding from Israel to stop the construction in the settlements for a certain period and to stop the invasions of the cities.

Accordingly, we agreed from our side on softening the last appeal to the UN. But now, in light of what Israel is doing on the ground, we will not raise a white flag and surrender. We will continue our efforts before the International Court of Justice.

According to him, the Palestinian leadership will find it difficult under the circumstances that have arisen to bind themselves to the security plan recently formulated by the American coordinator, General Mike Fenzel said: "How can we remain committed to this plan while Israel continues the raids and escalates the tensions?"

This is a program that aims to train Palestinian security forces to deal with the armed militias in Jenin and Nablus.

After a series of talks and contacts, the PA officials agreed to the principles of the plan, but a Palestinian official says that "even if they officially continue to promote the plan, it will collapse and have no meaning on the ground since it is no longer possible to take away the desire to confront from the street. Even if Palestinian forces enter there , the armed men will not agree to surrender themselves and will fight. It no longer matters what the PA does, these young men want to die and fight to the end."
