Unlimited train travel for €1.95 per year? Beware of this social media scam

2023-02-22T09:50:17.246Z

Presenting itself as a new offer from the SNCF, this misleading advertisement broadcast on Facebook and Instagram invites visitors to enter their bank details.

Unlimited train travel for a year for the price of a coffee.

The offer is enough to make more than one dream, especially after the increase in train ticket prices at the start of the year.

Broadcast on the Facebook page and the Instagram account “Proposition de voyage”, it promises a year of travel in France for only €1.95.

Too good to be true... It is actually a scam, as confirmed by the SNCF.

The SNCF has decided to offer everyone a travel card for only €1.95.

With this card, you can travel for free for exactly 1 year!

We advise you to hurry to make your request and wait for the manager to call you because the number of cards is limited!

“, proclaims a publication posted on February 14.

To participate in this fake contest, visitors are asked to fill out a form and enter their bank details.

The Facebook page "Travel proposal" invites visitors to fill in their bank details in a form.

There is indeed a subscription allowing unlimited travel on board SNCF TGVs.

This is the Max card, offered at €79 per month to young people and seniors and at a variable price to workers making home-to-work journeys.

Far from the 1.95 € promised by advertising.

These scam attempts usurping the identity of travel companies are unfortunately frequent.

Last November, Air France warned against a fake free plane ticket scam that was massively broadcast on WhatsApp.

The scammers pretended to be the airline to collect your personal data through a fake contest.
