The last meeting he led in the Upper House was on September 1 of last year, before the assassination attempt. Then there were four sessions that the vice president did not attend.

After the fracture that the ruling party suffered in the Senate and that left the Frente de Todos without the first minority,

Cristina Kirchner continues without presiding over the sessions of the Upper House and missed the high school

this Thursday in which the legislative authorities were ratified by 2023.

The last session that the vice president partially chaired was on September 1, hours before the attempted assassination he suffered at the door of his home in the Recoleta neighborhood.

It is worth clarifying that on that occasion, Cristina

only presided over the session for 5 minutes

since she was immediately replaced by Claudia Ledesma Abdala, provisional president of the Senate.

Since the attack, the former president has avoided the venue and only used her office for political meetings.

Even after prosecutor Diego Luciani's accusation in the Highway case, in which she was convicted of corruption and disqualified from holding public office, Cristina Kirchner only expressed herself through social networks, either to install her defense or to question the political decisions of Alberto Fernández.

After the last session headed by the vice president in the Senate, in which a package of production incentive projects was discussed, there were four meetings in which, among other issues, the expansion of the Supreme Court of Justice and the the validation in the enclosure of the senators designated for the Council of the Magistracy.

The truth is that the power of the vice president was curtailed in the Senate after the fracture of the pro-government bench with the departure of four senators who were part of the Frente de Todos interbloc and who together with Alejandra Vigo from Cordoba formed the Federal Unity bloc .

This space will be chaired by Guillermo Snopek from Jujuy, and will be completed by Edgardo Kueider (Entre Ríos), Carlos Espínola (Corrientes) and María Eugenia Catalfamo (San Luis), who were part of the interblock chaired by José Mayans.

With the division of the ruling party, the interblock of the Frente de Todos, which makes up the National and Popular Front and Citizen Unity, was left with 31 members, while Together for Change will have 33, which modifies the political scenario in the Upper House.

Although the Frente de Todos had to make efforts to gather a quorum of 37 senators, with the departure of four legislators it was far from imposing its agenda and will be forced to negotiate with the opposition to meet.

Likewise, this change should have an effect on the representation of the body in the Council of the Magistracy.

Cristina Kirchner had divided the pro-government bloc to keep three places on the Judicial Council, but with this new formation, the opposition could keep two places on the body in charge of appointing judges and prosecutors.

Beyond this dispute, the vice president only signed the decree that called for the preparatory session, but decided to stay in Santa Cruz, in the midst of the political crisis affecting the ruling party in Congress.
