Keith Melvin Moses, a 19-year-old man, murdered a 20-year-old woman yesterday (Wednesday) in Orange County, Florida.

Later that day, the young man is suspected of returning to the scene of the murder and shooting to death a journalist covering the incident and a 9-year-old girl who lived nearby.

He also shot the girl's mother and the photographer accompanying the reporter, seriously injuring them.

"It is not clear what motivated the shooting spree," said Orange County Sheriff John Mina, adding that the 20-year-old who was shot knew the shooter, but "there is no clear connection between Moses and the other four who were shot."

According to the suspicion, around 11:00 in the morning Moses arrived at the scene of the murder and shot the young woman while she was in her car.

Later that day, around 16:00 he returned to the scene.

At the same time, a television reporter and a photographer from the American news channel "Spectrum News 13" were in a car outside the house, in order to cover the murder, and the suspect shot them both.

"It is not clear if the shooter knew that the reporter and cameraman in the car were journalists," the sheriff said, explaining that "their vehicle does not look like a news company vehicle."

The suspect then entered a nearby house and shot the 9-year-old and her mother.

"No one in our community — not a mother, not a 9-year-old girl and certainly not journalism professionals — should become a victim of gun violence," the sheriff said.

The White House also responded to the murder of the journalists and wrote on Twitter: "Our hearts go out to the family of the journalist who was killed today and the staff member who was injured, as well as the entire Spectrum News team."

The National Press Association released a statement that it was "horrified" by the shooting spree: "This is another tragic reminder that journalism is a dangerous profession and the subjects of the journalists' reports can become violent towards them while they are doing their jobs," the organization said.

"We call on all reporters in the field to take extra precautions and redouble their efforts to work safely."

Mozes will be charged with the murder of the young woman and the other shooting incidents.

In the past, he was charged with incidents of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, burglary, theft and other weapons offenses.
